Bake a Cake : No Eggs, No Milk!

By Mabi Azefor Fominyen.

This is probably the cheapest and simplest cake I ever baked. It is a chocolate cake. It is moist, dark and delicious!

Here's the recipe;
1 1/2 cups of Flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup or 3 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tablespoon vinegar
1/3 cup or 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla

NB: No eggs, No milk.

  • Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl
  • Mix well

  • Add the remaining ingredients in the following order ; vinegar, oil and water

  • Mix well , add vanilla flavour and pour into cake pan

  • Bake for 20- 25 minutes in an oven at 175°C or 350°F

(You may want to frost with chocolate frosting)

Yummy!

Hi Akwangha,
I am happy you liked the recipe and would need more of such.Give it a try and you would love it even more! How about baking during the weekend when you probably have more time? It takes just about 25minutes and you are done! You might want to carefully wrap the rest of the cake in a foil paper and preserve it for later.

Do you have to have vinager?

Thanks for the question about having vinegar.Sure you would need to put in some vinegar.
Well if you do try something else in place of vinegar I'd be glad to know so I could try it as well.

Instead of using 1 cup of sugar as indicated in the recipe, last week I used 1/2 a cup(just cutting down on sugar intake) and it tasted good.
